Welcome to W®I(S)TORY! This site was originally meant to revolve around the artesanal manufacture and sales of bespoken leather watch straps named after the CV 707 Vesikko, worlds only surviving typ IIa U-Boat designed by a secretly established design bureau in Netherlands and built and launched on the shores of the Baltic Sea on 10 May 1933 in the Crichton-Vulcan dockyard in Turku Finland. This connection proved to be an omen as the emerging new strap company CV 707 STRAPS did not survive beyond a half-ready unpublished website and a few prototypes. They were to be made by a friend who was unemployed at the time and liked the idea of putting his handicraft skills at stake. The plan sank - pun intended - when he was offered a good job which he accepted. And so I ended up with a domain name of a strap company that never was. At around the same I had fiddled with the idea of putting up a site called W®I(S)TORY and decided to use the domain for this purpose. Now if there has ever been a theme to my watch collecting it could probably be labeled as "stealth" : I like low-key watches that do not draw attention and watches that, because of historical association, design clues or what have you remind me of the stealth concept. Thus this site is not only a tribute to the strap company that never was nor to one historically important WWII era submarine that once embodied and pushed the concept forward. It is more a tribute to "stealth" itself with enough watch stuff thrown in that it could pass as a site which domain was originally supposed to be W®I(S)TORY.
Please, sit back and relax. I hope you like it here. Host,
